Teuti the Pirate - Cat In Hats Series - a mixed media portrait by Michele Avanti
This painting was a gift commission from one of my clients for her friend who had just lost her darling kitty. The kitty named Teuti had only one eye and as soon as I saw the picture, I knew she should be a pirate. After I painted it, I discovered that indeed the lady who owned this darling named her after a famous ancient queen who protected pirates and lived by the rule of piracy! Teuti's owner did tweak the queen's name a little but I have included some of her story below for you.
As we often see, fact is more amazing than fiction, this synchronicity surprised me since I had never met either the cat or her owner.
I hope you enjoy this painting and may every person who loves a different life form find joy in their world and peace when they leave us.

I had a cat with only one good eye from birth and she was a chicken pirate always right there if you had fried chicken she could only have the white meat carefully broken up, but she loved it. So your art has inspired a memory of a good time with a friend long gone. Thank You Allen
