Recently I was commissioned to create a totem animal for a client. He described what he wanted me to paint. His totem was a Raven flying through fire carrying a rose. This is the painting you see. He was very pleased with the outcome. I hope you enjoy it as well.

The raven animal totem is sometimes called the “Keeper of Secrets” and like all birds is a messenger between the heavens and the earth. The raven encourages us to dive deeper and to look within to seek the answers to put in motion the much-needed change. Often times these messages may be difficult, but soaring over hurdles and obstacles is how we grow most. The Raven symbolizes courage, healing, omens, change.
The Rose has been historically a symbol of love and passion. The ancient Greeks and Romans associated roses with Aphrodite and Venus, goddesses of love. Used for hundreds of years to convey messages without words, they also represent intimacy, confidentiality and passion.
Fire has great power for forging will and determination it is a symbol of cleansing, transformation and uncontrollable passion.
