Silver and dark midnight, navy blue always suggest winter to me. This mandala symbolizes the coldest season of the year. It's circular movement suggests the winds of Jack Frost, as it pulls you into an enclosed space where near life begins.
At the same time, I see a shield in this design which brings the great Norwegian god Thor to mind, the defender of the North Lands and a powerful winter force.
