Snow on Locomotive Engine 1229 photograph by Michele Avanti
It is rare that we get snow in Roseburg, Oregon, let alone enough to actually walk around and enjoy. In the winter of 2017, we did get a snow storm. I went to Stewart Park where children were sledding and making snow men. The famous locomotive engine that is a landmark here was irresistible. Hope you enjoy this shot.

Story of Engine 1229
When this engine was in operation, it was used to shuttle cars between tracks in California railroad yards.
After 43 years of service, the owner donated it to the city of Roseburg, Oregon. It has been officially a welcoming landmark in Stewart Park ever since.
