Description
Mardi Gras, mixed media painting by Michele Avanti
When I think of Mardi Gras, I think of color, a kind of fireworks that splashes across the scene in clothe, clothing and the faces of people. It is fun. As I worked on a photograph of myrtle wood, I created this image. Hope you enjoy it and that it makes you feel happy.

Mardi Gras is a Christian holiday and popular cultural phenomenon that dates back thousands of years to pagan spring and fertility rites. Also known as Carnival or Carnaval, it’s celebrated in many countries around the world—mainly those with large Roman Catholic populations—on the day before the religious season of Lent begins. Brazil, Venice and New Orleans play host to some of the holiday’s most famous public festivities, drawing thousands of tourists and revelers every year.
Mardi Gras also called Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, in English, refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three Kings Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday

SO LOVE THIS IMAGE, Michele...is it FRACTAL??
Michele Avanti replied:
Thank you, Laurel, it is not purely fractal, it is a combination. Once I got what I wanted from the fractal work, I then went forward and used a water color brush to get exactly what I wanted. So like most of my images it is a combination of techniques.
